Welcome to Shopbabbles. Quite simply, this blog is all about keeping up to speed with how companies, brands and retailers are using social media campaigns and technology to influence the way people shop and buy stuff. So if the ultimate intended action behind the campaign is to get someone to buy something (and let’s face it, it jolly well should be) and there’s a good solid bit of strategic thinking, design and creativity behind it, then all being well, it should be on here (and if it isn’t, then please let us know!)

You’ll find points of view, case studies, stats, tips and tricks from all over the planet…..and for those of us in the business of designing and developing communication ideas and campaigns, hopefully there’s also a bit of inspiration in there somewhere too.

Who we are:
Samantha Calios:
Hi everyone, I am Sam, a recent graduate from California, USA. I am working for a global shopper marketing network. Social media is pretty much changing communication as we knew it, but I am most intrigued by its influence on the way people shop and interact with their favourite brands. This blog gathers a better picture of new developments on the topic. Enjoy Shopbabbles!
I just make the coffee.

Arik Leeb
Hey everybody, I’m Arik and currently interning at a shopper marketing agency in Germany. To be honest, social media were of no particular interest to me as soon as I realised how deeply involved I am compared to how few I actually know about them.
A landmark to me was Nike+. Eventhough I was very athletic my whole life, I was so fascinated by the benefits of Nike+ that I became a passionate runner and a better sportsmen. This is the kind of thing which makes people love a brand I guess.
At the moment I am writing a Master Thesis about the influence of social media on shopping behaviour. According to my belief, social media in future will be mobile and even more closely linked to shopping. I have just started to undestand the possibilites of new technologies and I am fascinated and slightly scared at the same time.
Anyhow, enjoy this website and any comments, thoughts, new ideas shared are highly appreciated. Have fun!
