Technology is developing fast and now even bakers have found their way into the world of Twitter.

How? – By introducing the BakerTweet

BakerTweet allows businesses to use Twitter to communicate in real-time about offers, pricing and stock from a special device that can withstand kitchen peril and is much simpler to operate than any laptop or a mobile.

The prototype,  is not yet available to everyone - however the device is currently installed at the Albion Cafe in London.  With a quick click of a button, the Albion staff can tell the world that fresh baked goodies have just come out of the oven.

BakerTweet means fans of fresh bakeries no longer having to settle for frumpy rolls as they receive a Tweet directly informing them when the fresh buns have come out of the oven.

In my opinion BakerTweet signifies the start to the real-time era of Twitter. The usage of Twitter for real-time purposes will increase within a short period of time. So there is a possibility of pizza places twittering to their clients when their orders are ready for pick-up or mum’s using Twitter to tell their kids they have to come home because supper is ready.

This makes me wonder whether real-time Twitter will also replace the classical SMS on the long run?

You never know what is going to happen. The only thing you know for sure is that -in these days -Nothing is impossible!
